Carbon Dioxide

Carbon dioxide is an effective fire suppression agent applicable to a wide range of fire hazards.  It has a high rate of expansion which allows it to work fast. When applied to a fire, CO2 provides a heavy blanket of gas that reduces the oxygen level to a point where combustion cannot occur. Since carbon dioxide is a gas, there is no clean-up associated with a system discharge which means minimal business interruption.

Carbon dioxide is an effective fire suppression agent applicable to a wide range of fire hazards. Carbon dioxide works quickly, with no residual clean-up associated with a system discharge which translates into minimal business interruption.

Co2 Fire Suppression System for Marine Applications

Fike’s Marine CO2 valve allows the pneumatic actuator to connect directly to the master valve without additional actuation components.
The pneumatic time delay is installed directly in the manifold, minimizing the use of separate actuators and valves to control agent flow.
• All levers and controls are included with the system components allowing easy installation.

Applications

 Electric Discharge Machining (EDM)

Code: CDAP003
Supplier: Fike

What is Electronic Discharge Machining? Electronic Discharge Machining (EDM) is a machining process that uses an electrode to remove metal, or any other conductive material, from a workpiece by generating sparks between conducting surfaces. The electrode is the cutting tool for the EDM process and cuts the workpiece with the shape of the electrode. This material removal technique uses electricity to remove metal by means of spark erosion. During this process, sparks are created between the electrode and the workpiece. The energy from the electrode dissipates the workpiece and the desired shape is formed.

 Dust Collection System

Code: CDAP004
Supplier: Fike

Dust collection is the process of removing or collecting solid particles from airflow to comply with stringent air pollution standards. Large filters trap airborne particles before they are released into the outside air. Bag Type collectors are one of the most common air pollution control technologies that removes particulate matter from the air waste stream being emitted from a broad range of industrial processes. The particulate-laden air stream passes through a woven or felted fabric that filters out the particulate matter and allows the air to pass through.

 Subfloor Protection

Data centers, telecommunication facilities, internet services, control rooms, and other like facilities consist of similar characteristics that present major fire hazards. In particular, the spaces beneath raised floors pose as much of a fire hazard as does the numerous pieces of computer equipment situated on the raised floors

 Wave Solder Machine

Code: CDAP007
Supplier: Fike

The electronic systems industry continues to grow year after year, increasing printed circuit board (PCB) use and production. Despite some consolidation among the semiconductor market, the demand for electronic systems continues to soar. According to a study conducted by the NOMURA Research Institute, the demand for PCBs will continue to increase worldwide well into the year 2005, allowing the continuation of wave soldering, which will be the focus of this profile.
