AS ISO14520:2009

The team at Fire Protection Technologies are pleased to inform you that AS4214: 2018 is now published and supersedes AS ISO14520:2009

Knowing how important this change is to our customer base we have detailed below some of the changes which could have an effect on systems which are either in design stage or competitive tender stage :-
Change Anticipated Effect
Maximum discharge times for all Class A hazards (including higher class A) has been increased from 60 seconds to 120 Seconds The extension of the discharge time from 60s to 120s may result in the ability to use smaller pipework and nozzles and smaller pressure relief vents.
IG541 design concentration has been increased from 39.9% to 41.7%   The increase in design concentration may affect the number of cylinders and size of pipe / valves on projects which are still at design / tender stage.
Fan testing is to be completed to ISO14520-1:2015 Annex E (or a full discharge test) 
It is worth checking that gaseous fire extinguishing system specifications include this wording to ensure compliance to the new standard.
